Samantha Shanken Baker
Samantha was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1989 when she was 21 years old. Back then, no one she knew had even heard about being diabetic. It took years to find friends to talk to and doctors who made her feel as though she could manage and be healthy. Because of this Samantha is passionate about raising money for cure research while educating others that have been newly diagnosed. Meeting Dr. Jason Baker and Sandy Narayanan and seeing their dedication to MFund has energized her to encourage others to donate and support their work globally.
Crispin Gishoma
Crispin has been involved with the Rwanda Diabetes Association (RDA) since its inception in 1997. The mission of RDA is to improve the well-being and health of mainly impoverished and young people living with diabetes in Rwanda. Starting off as a volunteer, his tasks evolved over time and he took over as the Director of the RDA in 2012. As the director, Crispin oversees and coordinates all aspects of health care services, including human resources, finances, projects, communication with government and donors; along with management of two medical clinics and a diabetes center that hosts their diabetes camp.
